Nataša Teofilović

Natasa Teofilovic (1968) is a media artist who uses computer art to explore the prevalence and the identity of the female in the virtual empty space. Her recent work also includes digital ambiances. Through spatial disposition and animation, the works re-examine the perception of virtual characters and the boundaries between virtual and real spaces. Her artistic development moved from neoconceptual art in the early 90 's to digital art of the new century. In her works she combines art, science and technology, technically speaking, she works in various media, from experimental video, 3D animation to performance and digital environments. Conceptually, these works combine themes of identity in an empty (void) virtual space, perception of virtual beings and examination of boundaries between virtual and real space. Her digital works are interdisciplinary, hybrid and interactive.

She won an honorary mention in the first Prix Ars Electronica Collide@CERN competition and Jury Recommended Work at 15th Japan Media Arts Festival, Tokyo, Japan, 2012. She has exhibited in Ars Electronica Festival (2007, Linz, Austria), Incheon International Digital Art Festival (2009, Korea), Shanghai eArts Festival (2007, China), DAT (2007, Singapore Science Centre), HTMlles 8 Festival, (2007, Montreal, Canada), "Conversation", (2001, Museum of Contemporary Art, Belgrade, Yugoslavia), "Out of Chaos - Media, Food, Industrial Products" (1996, Museum of Contemporary Art, Vienna, Austria).

Her  first book deals with theory and practiceof 3D character animation (computer animation - Humanoids), with particular focus on an analysis of her own animation through which she explores the appearance of her virtual women's bodies in a computationaly genrated space.
